PRIVATE LESSONS BY APPOINTMENT

Class:  Private Voice Lessons/Audition Coaching with Megan Hildebrand

MONDAYS

Class:  Little Players Dance
Dates:  Jan. 23rd-April 21st

Description:  In this high energy course, children will learn Basic Jazz and Broadway dance moves. This class will follow a Jazz warm up and will include floor work and simple combinations that combine both styles. Choreographed routines will be taught for both the Christmas and Spring Showcases.


Class:  Kidz Co. Dance

Description:  This program is designed to mold the next generation of theatre professionals in a guided, dynamic, studio-style program that is tailored to the needs of upcoming shows. They will learn basic Jazz and Broadway dance moves in this beginner Musical Theater Dance Class! Children will act out their favorite musical numbers in a comfortable and loving environment. Stage direction, self- expression, and dancing choreographed numbers are just a few of the skills that they will practice weekly.

Class: Meisner for Teens:  Becoming a True Actor

Dates:  Jan. 23rd-April 21st
Ages: 13-16
Time: 5:00pm-6:00pm

Description:  In this course Ms. Lanning will help teen actors to free themselves from self-consciousness and the pressure of performance to achieve truth on the stage – and in life. Teens will learn how to find their unique voice and truthful viewpoint while being guided step-by-step through demanding and exciting exercises of the Meisner Approach. What is often a question of “am I good enough?” will be replaced with engaging directly and immediately with their acting partners to awaken within themselves what makes acting exciting, joyous, and breathtakingly real. Being a true actor for life is the ultimate goal and this is a great first step.

Class requirements: No acting experience necessary – just desire. An in-person or phone interview with Ms. Lanning for acceptance into the course.

Musical Theatre Dance

Description:  In this class, students will be introduced to the different styles of dance used in musical theatre performances including:  basic ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop, and modern/lyrical dance styles.  This class is ideal for the actor/singer needing to build “mover” skills.

*Domanick will also do “drop in” sessions for adults (age 17 or over) taking this class for only $20.00 per lesson any day of the week.

 

TUESDAYS

Class:  Little Players Acting

Dates:  Jan. 23rd-April 21st
Ages:  6-8

Description:  “All the world’s a stage” for these young players who will practice using the tools of the trade: the voice, body, and imagination, through fun warm-up exercises, games, and activities.  Puppets will be incorporated to recreate stories and help develop vocal characterization.  Performing story dramas will be a fun part of this class.

Description: This company of young actors will learn and have an opportunity to practice physical (especially miming), vocal, and imaginative skills for the stage through fun games, exercises, and activities. Students will also learn theatre terms, the basics of staging, and acting fundamentals within an ensemble.

 

Class:  Acting for Adults

Description:  Students in The Actors’ Workshop will become better performers through the principles of imagination, controlled release of inhibitions, and common sense.  Students work on techniques for developing individual talents without trying to “sacrifice the personality in lieu of the method.” With individual attention applied to individual abilities, the student and teacher attempt to discover and emphasize what works and diminish what doesn’t.  Monologues, scene study, voice and articulation, character development, improvisation and audition techniques are incorporated to help make each student the best performer they can be.

 

Class:  Creative Writing for the Stage

Dates:  Jan. 23rd-April 21st
Ages:  11-15
Time:  5:30-6:30

Description:  Creative Writing for the Stage is a course for students who want to learn how to write effective monologues, scenes, and scripts. Topics will include developing interesting characters,  the importance of dialogue, and how to create a dramatic structure. Students will spend time writing in every class and will be given creative prompts to spark their imaginations.

 

WEDNESDAYS

Class:  Intermediate Tap

Dates:  Jan. 23rd-April 21st
Ages:  12 through adult

Description:  Want to become a young Fred Astaire or Ginger Rodgers? This class will be full of fun and excitement. We will bring to life many different tap sequences that will be combined into one big number at the end. Each class, the students will learn a new sequence of 8 counts to perform in front of each other. This class will be full of fun and toe tapping numbers!  (Note:  This is an intermediate class and students who enroll should already possess basic tap skills.)

 

Class:  Just For Men-Dance Class

Description:  At GTA, we understand that the thought of attending a weekly dance class can be daunting to the novice male actor (and particularly so in a room of intermediate/advanced female dancers).   Therefore, we have created the “Just for Men” dance class.  Come join Domanick Hubbard in this movement class geared specifically for men.  Learn how the basics of dance as well as how to lead your partner and execute the athleticism often required for male actors.

Class:  Broadway Babies Acting
Dates:  Jan. 23rd-April 21st

Description: “Let’s pretend …” is a phrase children will hear often in this class.  Students will participate in fun games and activities to practice expressive movement, vocalization, and characterization.  Creative dramatics, a more open-ended improvised form of acting, will be used to recreate stories, poems, and nursery rhymes.  This is a wonderful age to start building the foundation for acting and expressive communication.

 

Class:  Young Artist’s Acting

Dates:  Jan. 23rd-April 21st

Description:  Participation in warm-up exercises, theatre games and activities that promote creative movement, imagination, and vocal expression will be a fun part of this class.   In addition to learning basic principles of acting including the use of sense memory, staging, and script analysis, students will work collaboratively to improvise dramatizations that include plot, characterization, and setting and create dramatizations using scripts.  Come have a few laughs and hone your acting skills with Ms. B!

 

Class:  Jazz/Hip Hop

Description:   This fun and energetic class will include such elements as kicks, leaps, turns, splits, and isolations. Classes will include stretch and strengthening exercises as well as floor work that will improve the dancers’ power and flexibility. The Hip Hop portion is a combination of street dancing and funk similar to what you would see in televised dance performances or music videos. Students will learn the importance of isolations and dynamics to execute pop-and-lock and funk movements. Choreographed routines will be a combination of Jazz/Hip Hop for both Christmas and Spring Showcases.
