Age: 13 – 19

Time: 4 – 5:30pm

Instructor: Kayla Hildebrand

Location: Theatre

Price: $175

Description: When I was younger and I was constantly asked the dreaded question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” I always knew my answer: “An Actor.” Then unfailingly, I would see faces scrunch up in confusion as they responded, “But you’re so quiet..Don’t you kinda have to be loud and boisterous in order to be an actor?” The stereotypical norm for most non-theatre people is to consider us as the bombastic nerds with musical theatre knowledge and a witty response for everything. But what about the minority? What about the actors who love what they do, but like to keep to themselves? Since high school, I have considered myself an introvert; a person with a usually shy personality who prefers spending time by themselves in order to read/write/think. But, despite all of that – and my extreme stage fright – I kept on pursuing my love for acting because it is the only place where I can scream, laugh, and cry, in the course of an hour and a half where no one judges me for it. And, if you’re an introvert like me, you know it is extremely important to detox every once in awhile.

In this class, it would be my honor to help you feed your passion for acting. Not by overcoming your introverted self, but to help you find a balance between your stage self and your real self. If you have stage fright or anxiety, I can also help you tackle that. As long as you are willing to let me. I can’t wait to meet all of you! Introverts unite!!
