Beginning Jazz

Description: An introduction to the basics of jazz dance technique! In this class, students will learn a series of jazz terminology and combinations. By the end of the semester, students will know the fundamentals of jazz.

Contemporary Dance

June 4th – July 9th

Age: 7 – 18

Description: This will be a specialty class for those who want to experience a new style of dance. This class will focus on telling stories through the body and interpreting songs through dance. Open to all levels, if you just want a place to release and get your mind off of things, this is the class for you. You will go through a series of movement and learn how to express yourself through this style of dance. If you come with an open heart and mind, this class will be one of the most amazing experiences.

*For class, students should wear clothes appropriate for movement. No flip-flops, please.

 Adult Acting Workshop

June 4th-July 23rd

Age: 18 & up

Instructor: Don Shook

Description: Students in The Actors’ Workshop will become better performers through the principles of imagination, controlled release of inhibitions, and common sense. Students work on techniques for developing individual talents without trying to “sacrifice the personality in lieu of the method.” With individual attention applied to individual abilities, the student and teacher attempt to discover and emphasize what works and diminish what doesn’t. Monologues, scene study, voice and articulation, character development, improvisation and audition techniques are incorporated to help make each student the best performer they can be.

Broadway Bound Music Theatre for Young Adults

Description: Accepting all levels of talent, this class will prepare you to become a triple-threat on the stage. Students will be given the opportunity to act, dance, and sing in solo, duet, and ensemble numbers, as well as participate in mock auditions. This is the next step to becoming “Broadway Bound.” Come enjoy this fun and judgment-free environment. You will leave this class with more knowledge and experience as a musical theatre performer.

Be ready to work, have fun, and challenge yourself! *For class, students should wear clothes appropriate for movement.

Kids Acting Company

Description: This company of students will study the art of acting through monologues and scenes. Students will learn and practice the physical, vocal, and imaginative skills necessary for the stage. We welcome students from all acting levels and experiences. Students should be prepared to challenge themselves while also discovering the joys of acting.

“Broadway Bound” Musical Theatre for Kids

Description: All experience levels welcome! This class will prepare you to become a triple-threat on the stage. Description: Continuing the knowledge of jazz dance technique, this class will offer students the opportunity to learn a series of more difficult jazz combinations and skills. Students will be taking the necessary steps in order to become a more advanced jazz dancer. Enroll in this class if you are ready to perform to the top of your ability. This class is destined to be outrageously fun and challenging.

Young Actors Studio

Location: Granbury Opera House Stage and Scene Shop

Description: An introduction to all aspects of Theater Technology. If it does not involve singing, acting, dancing, or performing it will be covered in this class. Whether students are interested in pursuing a career backstage or simply curious how the parts of the theater that we don’t get to see actually work, everyone in this class will have the opportunity to work on in depth details of sound, lighting, and set construction!

Description: This class is for the future Broadway stars! Students will learn the beginning basics of musical theatre. Each student will have the opportunity to gain confidence, character, and growth through scenes, games, and activities.

Description: If you want to sweat, challenge yourself, become a better hip-hop dancer or just want to have fun, then you need to sign up for this class. In this class, you will learn a series of combinations, dances and hip-hop moves. You will dance to hits from Michael Jackson, Imagine Dragons, Beyoncé and many more. Come get your cardio on in one of the most fun environments. Have no experience? No worries, this class is all about having a good time, so join us!

Yoga

Description: This yoga class is a Baptiste Power Vinyasa, or power flow, that will benefit your mind, body, and soul. We will move quickly and often while holding traditional yoga poses to build internal heat and strength. This class is suitable for all levels since all poses can be modified or advanced. From beginner to advanced, all students can feel challenged and at ease. While this class will not take place in a heated studio, it is sure to give you a workout and jump-start your weekend.

**Anyone taking yoga will need to bring a yoga mat and preferably a yoga block.**

Adult Musical Theatre Dance

Description: This class is designed for all levels of performers either starting or continuing their path in dance for musical theatre. This class will be a comfortable and loving environment while students develop stage confidence, self-expression, coordination, and dance vocabulary!

ZUMBA

Instructor: Fatima Austin

Description: Zumba is a Latin inspired dance fitness format designed to be fun and all about the music! The choreography incorporates hip-hip, samba, salsa, and many other dance styles. Adult Murder Mystery Theatre Acting Workshop
