Performances

June 6 – July 6, 2025
Fridays at 7:30pm, Saturdays at 2pm and 7:30pm, Sundays at 2pm

  • Extra shows at 7:30pm on Thursday, July 3 and 2pm on Friday, July 4
  • No 7:30pm show on Friday, July 4

Rehearsals

  • Rehearsals will begin Monday, April 28, 2025.
  • Typically, rehearsals will be Mondays-Thursdays from 7-10pm and Saturdays from 9am-12pm.
  • Tech Week rehearsals on June 2-5, 2025, will be Monday-Thursday and will begin at 6pm.
  • There may be a Q2Q rehearsal on Sunday, June 1, 2025.

Benefits

  • Limited actor stipends are available for specific roles; stipends typically range from $100-$400.
  • An allotment of comp tickets is available for family and friends.
  • A limited amount of housing is available on weekends during performance run, upon request. Housing is not available during rehearsals.

Video Auditions

Performers of any ethnicity, race, color, sex, gender, age, sexual orientation, marital status, religion, body type and who are differently abled are welcomed and encouraged to audition.

PRODUCTION DESCRIPTION

It’s 1962 in Baltimore, and the lovable plus-size teen, Tracy Turnblad, has only one desire – to dance on the popular “Corny Collins Show.” When her dream comes true, Tracy is transformed from social outcast to sudden star. She must use her newfound power to dethrone the reigning Teen Queen, win the affections of heartthrob, Link Larkin, and integrate a TV network… all without denting her ‘do!

Tracy Turnblad – Our story’s unsuspecting protagonist, she is large and in charge. Confident, talented, and incredibly determined. A romantic with a good heart and desire to cut up the dance floor. Always on top of the latest trends. Plus size actress.

Corny Collins – The charismatic host of the Corny Collins’ Show. Smooth talking and is a genuinely nice guy both on and off camera.

Edna Turnblad – Tracy’s big and blonde mother. She is a working housewife who has lost her confidence and dream to be a plus-size clothing designer. Boisterous and commanding. Played by a male in drag, plus size actors preferred.

Velma Von Tussle – Amber’s mother and the director of Corny Collin’s show. She is a devious taskmaster and snobby racist. The former Miss Baltimore Crabs will go to any length to ensure her daughter is the next big thing.

Amber Von Tussle – Link’s girlfriend and Tracy’s nemesis. She is shallow, snobby, and racist. Can’t dance but is expected to win Miss Baltimore Hairspray. Always feels the need to be the center of attention.
